FINDING HOME CLOWNFISH CLOISONNÉ JEWELRY PENDANT

FINDING HOME CLOWNFISH CLOISONNÉ JEWELRY PENDANT

I created this Finding Home clownfish cloisonné jewelry pendant in 1994, long before the movie “Finding Nemo” came out. The premise of the movie is that a somewhat overprotective father clownfish has sheltered his son deep within the Great Barrier Reef. Nemo, the son, ventures away from his home in the reefs and is captured by a dentist, who sets Nemo up in an aquarium in his office. From there, the story is about finding Nemo to bring him back home.

Now, the Clownfish is in Homes Everywhere.

Because of the movie’s popularity, homes everywhere now have a clownfish similar to Nemo in their home aquarium. I can’t help but feel a little sad at the thought of it. After all, don’t we all long to be at the place we call home?

It’s an innate desire for the creatures of the earth, both human and animal, to reside near home. We all want to be close to those we love and instinctively feel protected and sheltered at home. For so many of us, home is our happy place. The place which feeds our souls. It’s a concept that was suggested to us long before Nemo when the story of Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz touched our hearts.

I’d Rather Remember These Beautiful Clownfish Where I Know They Feel Most at Home.

The very bright orange and white striped fish are happiest at the bottom of the ocean in sheltered lagoons or coral reefs. This is their natural habitat. That is the place they call home.

I’m so glad I had the honor of creating this vision through my jewelry art, in this cloisonné jewelry pendant. And to make sure my pendant would last, I secured it in an 18K gold setting.

Homes and offices everywhere may have this little guy in tanks for display. But, I’d rather their likeness displayed on a one-of-a-kind jewel that honors them. And, I’d rather see them frolicking in the vast blue ocean waters, at home where they belong.

It’s an Honor to be Able to Create Cloisonné Jewelry, Like This Pendant, That Has Meaning and Tells a Story.

After all, what is art if it doesn’t speak to the soul? As a jewelry maker, I have to find meaning in my work. It’s one of the most fulfilling purposes I can think of.

I love animal and plant life. I feel connected to them and see their purpose. It brings me joy to be able to capture their spirit through an enamel jewelry piece. It sounds so simple, yet it is so much more.

I feel so at home designing and creating cloisonné jewelry. It’s a gift I don’t take lightly. And I’d love to design a fine custom jewelry pendant for you as well. What stirs your heart? It would be my honor to create it for you.
