Luna seemed like a fitting name for this cloisonné butterfly necklace. Luna means “moon” in Italian and Latin. If you look closely at this beautiful custom jewelry piece, you’ll notice bright areas of white reflective of small moons and a couple that look like quarter moons.
A lovely combination and thought I think — moons and butterflies. Two of the most spectacular visions of our world.
Because the majority of butterflies only come out during the day, you won’t see many at night, when the moon is casting its shadow over the Earth.
However, in tropical climates, butterflies are more likely to be nocturnal and come out at night. Moths are more nocturnal. In fact, there’s even a moth named Luna.
But, the Lepidoptera most of us are quite fond of is the butterfly. The butterfly itself is a winged jewel of nature, nature’s best offering. And, the fact that there are droves of them in a tapestry of colors is mesmerizing.
When the stargazer lays his or her eyes on a butterfly flying beneath a moonlit sky, the colors dance with the moon’s beams, casting a soft glow over the butterfly’s evening appearance.
While daytime butterflies remind us of sunshine and the excitement of life, nighttime butterflies remind us of the beauty of stillness.
This unique, one-of-a-kind enamel custom jewelry piece has an iridescent glow, highlighting the butterfly’s beautiful form. I love the freedom cloisonné jewelry making gives me. It’s an art just as one with an artist and his or her canvas.
I can create a thousand different butterfly jewelry pieces and just as with those in nature, each would be unique. I’ve designed butterfly necklaces and earrings. I’d love to continue creating these lovely winged flowers.
